South LA is Still Home: Black and Brown Permanence

Our vision for the conversation is Black and Brown Permanence in South LA, displayed through two projects, the Center for Community Organizing and Destination Crenshaw. This is an opportunity to engage folks around the history, current work and transformative future of Vermont and Crenshaw Corridor. The Center for Community Organizing is an exciting development that will establish a people's center to harness the power of communities and support activists across the nation in multi-racial organizing toward our collective freedom. Destination Crenshaw is a revitalizing project that will provide meaningful support for black-owned small businesses, create a pipeline of work for emerging and seasoned artists, and develop community-led architectural designs and community spaces.

Participants will gain insights into the root causes of the issues and the ongoing community organizing efforts to shift the conditions experienced by residents in our community, while collectively envisioning solutions.
